Supporting our early career teachers (ECTs)

We are thrilled to announce that St. Polycarp’s has been appointed by the Xavier Teaching School Hub as an ECF Lead school for the Early Career Framework (ECF) programme, offered in partnership with Teach First. Since September 2021, all newly-qualified teachers are required to undertake a two-year induction period. During this time, they have access to extensive, high-quality training specifically designed to enhance their knowledge and skills. As an ECF Lead school, our exemplary practitioners collaborate with Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and their mentors from diverse educational settings.

At St. Polycarp’s and the Xavier Teaching School Hub, we share a fundamental belief: every child in our community deserves the best possible education to maximise their life chances. We recognise that the quality of an education system cannot surpass the quality of its teachers. Therefore, we are committed to providing evidence-based teacher development opportunities. Our goal is to challenge, inspire, and nurture the talents and skills of teachers at all career stages, empowering them to become outstanding practitioners and leaders. Through our collective efforts, we ensure that every child receives the education they need and truly deserve.
